Strata of EightOS
Just like in any practice, there are certain layers of achievement that one can have with EightOS. Each layer is called a Stratum. Each consecutive stratum encompasses the previous ones and incorporates their qualities. Strata provide a sense of evolution that is variable at its core, following the EightOS variability pattern: growth > saturation > reorganization > dissipation.
Below we list each stratum and associated tests that approve the passage to the specified layer, as well as the practice time it approximately takes to reach.
Stability
Basic regulation and integrity
Practice time: 12 hours over a period of minimum 2 weeks
Test: Consistent responses and stable position when receiving external impulses, assimilating the incoming impulse without escalation, constant breathing
Resilience
Recovery from stress
Practice time: 24 hours over a period of minimum 4 weeks
Test: Isometric (half-way down) push-up hold for 96 seconds — withstanding prolonged continued slow pressure without excessive tension buildup.
Fluidity
Non-rigid responsiveness
Practice time: 48 hours over a period of minimum 8 weeks
Test: Maintaining an approximately fixed position in space while receiving impulses from a group of people with eyes closed with a constant breath and without building up tension in the group and damaging one’s own bodymind.
Adaptability
Context-sensitive adjustment
Practice time: 64 hours over a period of minimum 16 weeks
Test: Spending 4 minutes pushed and pulled by a group of 3 people against a hard floor with eyes closed, maintaining integrity, fluidity, and staying resilient.
Confluence
Modulating the environment
Practice time: 96 hours over a period of minimum 32 weeks
Test: Moving together as a unified entity, ability to assimilate, infiltrate, redirect, respond, dissipate group dynamics or cognitive formations.
Interoperability
Cross-domain integration.
Practice time: 128 hours over a period of minimum 48 weeks
Test: Unconsciously utilizing and successfully applying EightOS principles in other areas of life to modulate tension and flow.
Synergy
Emergent coordination and orchestration
Practice time: 196 hours over a period of minimum 64 weeks
Test: Ability to generate temporary dynamics in each quadrant of the variability cycle in at least three different domains.
Generativity
System-creating capacity
Practice time: 256 hours over a period of minimum 96 weeks
Test: Creating an EightOS-like framework for a specific domain with recurrent practices that engage real individuals or agents and have a generative open-ended effect on the environment.
