How to escape from a difficult situation in life: do not fight against the tension, work around it.
Using this drill from #systema as a metaphor we demonstrate a strategy that you could use to escape a difficult situation in life.
When something is causing you tension, it can usually be localized (so that you don't allow it to spread to the other parts of your body~mind). Then you focus on the parts [of your body or of the situation] where you still have some freedom to gain control of the situation. You do that by identifying the interaction that you're engaged in as a common system. You find the center of that common system and shift your center into the center of that common system making use of the forces that are already there (in case of a physical confrontation, the force of gravity is always on your side). Finally, once you take over the center, you can start destabilizing the opposing force by applying confusing impulses into its pressure points, destabilizing the structure and gaining control over it.
